Placemats: One of the first things you need to purchase as soon as you purchase a glass dining table is a set of placemats. Placemats are vital to having your table stay looking new longer. Think about what will happen if you were to put down a set of plates at the glass dining table for dinner. As people are moving their plate to get food or sliding it just a bit as they cut a piece of meat they could scratch the glass top. Before long, that glass dining table use that was so beautiful will look marred and well used.
Being a consumer you have to make a choice between Chinese and glass dining dishes. A majority of people opt for glass dinner dishes as it looks stylish and suitable for any occasion. Moreover, you can choose from the striking recycled glass plates to round dining plates depending on your taste. However, the later are more conventional, whereas curved or square dishes provide a new and trendy look.
Is it damaging to the dinner plates if I put them in the microwave? To answer this question you need to check the dinner plates that you own themselves. Many will have a mark on the plates themselves if they are ‘microwaveable‘ or ‘microwave-friendly‘. If there is no mark on the plates then you should check the box the dinner plates came in. The reason I say this is that while it is not damaging to dinner plates that have been specially treated, there are some sets which have characteristics making them entirely unsuitable. For example any plates which have metallic paintwork or leading will cause sparks in the microwave. Also with glass dinner plates there is a high risk that they will smash if they have not been specially tempered for the heat.
If you are going for elegance and class, look for square plates with very elegant colors. For instance, black would work well or a deep burgundy red could b elegant as well. These colors are also easily to coordinate with other dinnerware items so they are very versatile.
Is it safe to put my dinner plates in the dishwasher? This is really the same answer as that for the microwave. You need to look on the dinner plates themselves for a marking which says 'dishwasher safe' or 'dishwasher-friendly'. If there is no marking you should also check on the box the dinner plates came in. If you still see nothing then it would be safest to not use the dishwasher for your new plates.
